Classroom & Outdoor Education

Altacal members and volunteers have provided in-classroom education through entertaining and interactive presentations, and through outdoor real-life experiences. Students learn about the local birds, their habits and habitats, and how they all fit into the ecosystem.

College & Local Nonprofit or Service Organizations

Altacal offers presentations for adults as well, from the simple “local birds” presentations to the complex “bird declines” presentation.

If you are interested in a presentation for your class or organization, contact us.

Nest Box Program

A classroom or teacher can adopt a nest box that you can monitor on your school grounds or at a nearby park (watch and collect data) and maintain and clean at the end of each season.

Bird Box Programs

School classes, organizations, or individuals can participate in the Bird Box Program. In order to receive a free bird box, you will need to register with Altacal and commit to monitoring each box and cleaning it at the end of each nesting season. Altacal will provide help with or instructions for monitoring and placement of the boxes. Please contact Jared if you would like to participate in this project.

Boxes can be installed on your property or on school grounds (pending approval from administrators) or we may be able to help get them placed in local parks or greenways.

This can be a great project for a science class or to do with your kids as we will have a data form for you to fill out each season.

Contact Jared for more information.
