Climate Watch Surveys

Climate Watch

A new community science program explores how North American birds are responding to climate change.

National Audubon Climate Watch

The current target species in California are Mountain and Western Bluebird; Pygmy, Red-breasted, and White-breasted Nuthatch; American and Lesser Goldfinch; and Spotted Towhee. Climate Watch focuses on these species because they are easy to identify, have an enthusiastic constituency, and Audubon’s climate models for these species offer strong predictions for range shifts to test.
