Gray Lodge Wildlife Area
February 22 @ 10:00 AM - 4:00 PMLands Pass Required
Gray Lodge Wildlife Area is one of the premier winter birding areas in Northern Sacramento Valley. With its varied habitats, flat hiking trails, viewing hides, and auto loop, viewing the abundant waterfowl and Snow Geese will be spectacular! We will also be looking for wintering raptors, shorebirds, and gulls. We’ll travel along the 3-mile auto loop and stop at various spots with the breathtaking Sutter Buttes in view. We will end with a walk to the viewing platform to scope the flooded habitat. Target birds will include Peregrine Falcon, Blue-winged Teal, Eurasian Wigeon, Black-necked Stilt, and Long-billed Curlew to name a few. Please bring your binoculars, lunch, and plenty of water. We will meet at the first parking area at the Chico Park & Ride at 10 AM.
All visitors will need to purchase a Lands Pass, prior to visiting the area. You can purchase a Day Pass or Annual Pass here: https://www.wildlife.ca.gov/Licensing/Lands-Pass.
