Black Butte Lake is a superb spot for birding and hiking, and Spring is the perfect time for both. We will bird along the lake shore and at the dam overlook. Hikes will include parts of the Big Oak, Paul Thomas, and Eagle Pass trails. We should see plenty of song birds, woodpeckers, raptors, and ducks and geese on the lake. Dress in layers, wear sturdy shoes for hiking, bring water, lunch, binoculars, scope, hat and sunscreen. Rain cancels. Limited to 6. Meet at ACE hardware parking lot in Chico at 8:30 am.
