(May) Altacal Audubon Spring Raffle – The Altacal Audubon Society will be selling raffle tickets for a 16x20 framed photograph of a Red-tailed Hawk, titled "Lift Off", by local photographer Carolyn Rae Short at the Endangered Species Faire, Saturday, May 6. You will be able to view this beautiful bird photo at the Faire where the drawing will take place at 4 p.m. Tickets are $1.00 or six for $5.00.
May 6, Saturday - Altacal will host a booth at the 27th Annual Endangered Species Faire, to be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Bidwell Park in Chico. Presented by Butte Environmental Council (BEC), it is the oldest environmental fair in northern California. This year's theme reflects local concerns regarding plans to exploit the aquifer: “Hidden Waters…In Danger?” If your school, agency, or nonprofit would also like to attend and promote your activities or support the Faire, we welcome both. May 13, Saturday - Watershed Celebration, Red Bluff, Sacramento River Discovery Center. http://www.srdc.tehama.k12.ca.us/ - The goal of the celebration is to enhance the public understanding, appreciation, wise use and stewardship of resources that make up the Sacramento River watershed. There will be kids’ games, an art demonstration, a silent auction, 5 and 10 kilometer walks/runs, and Sequoia, the 28-pound Bald Eagle from the San Francisco Zoo will be in attendance.
