March to July - Become a volunteer in the Gray Lodge Wildlife Area Wood Duck Nest Box Program. You can make a contribution to wildlife, gain experience working directly with wildlife, participate in the largest wood- duck-nest-box monitoring program in the state, become part of the Gray Lodge family of volunteers and staff, and experience the beauty of Gray Lodge's remote areas. It’s a unique opportunity to help wildlife. Working closely with a section leader, you will experience wildlife up close. Crews of two-to-three collect detailed data taken to understand and enhance the local wood duck population and other wildlife, including wrens, kestrels and owls. Although the work can be challenging at times, it is also a lot of fun. Don't let these photographic moments pass you by. Maintenance checks are conducted every other week from March to July. Most section checks take three-to-four hours. For more information call (530) 846-7505.
