Sightings

(If you have any interesting sightings in March, you can send them to the Newsletter Editor at tim.ruckle@sbcglobal.net by March 20th for possible inclusion in the April newsletter.)

January 27 – Roger Lederer had a flock of 20+ Eurasian Collared-Doves in his back yard in North Chico.  They appeared briefly at other times during February.

February 1-7 – One of Kathryn Hood’s friends in Willows had a Northern Cardinal at her feeder during the first week in February.  Did anyone else in that area see the bird?

February 16 – Kathryn Hood saw a mature Bald Eagle on her way to work (from Chico to Hamilton City) at 7:30 a.m. on Bell Rd. up in the oak tree to the right after the second bend in the road.

February 18 - Phil Johnson had Purple Finches show up at his feeder in Forest Ranch.  He also had a fox coming to the feeder in the night eating black sunflower seeds.

February 20 – John Oswald reported that there have been Bald Eagles at various locations around the Chico airport.  One sits alongside Mud Creek on Hicks Lane. It comes every year about this time.  If you drive down Hicks lane from Eaton road, it’s the last creek you come to on the right hand side. If the Eagle isn’t there, then check the trees on Cohasset Rd.
