September 20 - Randall Peterson saw several pairs of Lawrence's Goldfinches at Indian Fishery Nature Trail (River Road near the end of West Sacramento Ave. in Chico). He also saw Townsend’s Warblers and Black-throated Gray Warblers.
October 2 – In the morning, Jackson Shedd and Mela Garcia-Shedd saw their first valley Red-breasted Nuthatch at the Mendocino National Forest Genetic Resource and Conservation Center in Chico (also known as the Genetic Resource Center or the Tree Improvement Center). They also spotted an albino Gray Squirrel and a Prairie Falcon (the only raptor that was actually seen) soaring in a thermal with a flock of European Starlings.
October 9 – On an Altacal trip to Point Reyes, Jennifer and Warren Patten, Gaylord Grams and Mike Fisher spotted a Prothonotary Warbler (the key migrant rare bird) on the Earthquake trail at 9 a.m. in the trees just past the footbridge.
October 21 – Phil Johnson saw Mountain Quail at 1500’ altitude on Crown Point Rd. (three miles below Forest Ranch) in chaparral country.
October 30 – Jennifer Patten spotted a Red-breasted Sapsucker in Bidwell Park's "World of Trees" area.
