Altacal Board Meeting, Thursday, October 13, 2005 |
The Altacal Board of Directors met on October 13th and took the following actions: A slate of officers was nominated for consideration by the membership at the October 17th general meeting; the essentially new Board was asked to state, member-by-member, its vision for the future of Altacal. Ideas included having more field trips and increasing participation in them, having more Board members lead field trips, trying to get more novice birders to go on field trips, streamlining how things get done regarding advocacy for local issues, getting more kids involved with the organization, working to get larger turnouts at the general meetings and making people at the general meetings feel welcome and appreciated so they will return, emphasizing not just talking about things but actually doing them, getting the larger community involved in Altacal affairs and concerns, establishing a threshold for Altacal expenditures, resolving the Arneburg Sanctuary access issue, establishing a formal agreement with the Chico Creek Nature Center, establishing a relationship with the Chico State Birding Club, and sponsoring a student to attend the Central Valley Birding Club conference. Other matters discussed were a history of Altacal’s relationship to the Snow Goose Festival, purchase of two-way radios for auto field trips, potential changes in the meeting schedule for Board meetings, e-mail voting on Board issues, investment decisions for Altacal monies, purchase of a digital projector, and a letter of endorsement for River Partners Prop. 50 application.
