Chris Durniak spotted a Great-tailed Grackle on Road Z at the Southern boundary of Llano Seco in early June. Tim Ruckle also saw several male/female pairs of Great-tailed Grackles at Luk Lake on Clear Creek Sports Club (Rolling Hills Casino) property in Corning on May 31^st.

On June 12, Jay Bogiatto and Shelly Kirn reported a Yellow-billed Cuckoo in her backyard in town, off Oakdale.

Jim Snowden reported a Northern Saw-whet Owl calling continuously for about 15 minutes on the lower Yahi Trail of Bidwell Park on August 11. The call was a fairly rapid whistle-like note.

Jim Snowden also reported two unmated male Cuckoos calling (a roadrunner-like coo which sounds like a combination of cooing and grunting, the typical unmated call) at the Sacramento River "Washout" west of Chico July 27. One of them did one series of the rapid kuk call, which unmated males occasionally do.
