Altacal has been lending our expertise to River Partners to do point counts at a restoration project near Llano Seco. This year the diversity and numbers were up across the entire site, which is exciting to see. One area that was basically bare dirt a year ago now has up to five species associated with it as vegetation returns, and even the existing remnant riparian areas have better numbers than they did last year. And one never knows when something like a Least Bell’s Vireo may decide to come to visit our restored area – it’s shown up at a restoration area elsewhere in the Central Valley, so we might be next!
