Jackson Shedd reported a Pileated Woodpecker on 2/23 near Highway 32 about 5 miles above Forest Ranch.
On the 2/26 field trip to the Genetic Resource Center, highlights included Sharp-shinned Hawk and Hutton’s Vireo.
One of Dave Tinker’s students photographed a blue-morph Snow Goose at the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge (reported 2/23).
Warren and Jennifer Patten reported Red- and Yellow-shafted Flickers displaying together in Lower Park (2/24).
A Long-tailed Duck was reported by J.T. Lewis at Llano Seco, and another was in the Feather River in Oroville near Matthew’s Redi-Mix plant by a DFG Wildlife Biologist.
Anne-Lise Feenstra reports: First Rufous Hummingbird on February 13, and one in her yard around Feb. 26 - Mar. 1. Brown-headed Cowbirds on February 22, and more than 50 Tricolored Blackbirds on March 1.
