Godwit Days Spring Migration Bird Festival - April 16-18, 2004 – Arcata, CA. Arcata, California welcomes you to the 9th Annual Godwit Days, the three-day Spring Migration Festival where amid our ancient redwood forests, marshes and the Pacific Ocean, 450 species of bird have been recorded visiting here annually. One can watch Marbled Murrelets, have face to face encounters with spotted owls, and take small boat tours of Humboldt Bay to view migrant shorebirds at their peak. YOSEMITE BIRDING FESTIVAL - April 23-25, 2004, Yosemite National Park – CA. HERON DAYS - April 24-25, 2004, Lower Lake – CA. Heron Days is a celebration of the Great Blue Heron return to their nesting sites around Clear Lake. Activities include pontoon boat rides to view the heronry at Anderson Marsh and guided kayak trips to view the heronry at Rodman Slough. Informative and interesting nature presentations are held at Anderson Marsh State Park along with informational booths, some crafts, and food. Guided bird walks are available. 10th Annual Kern River Valley Birding & Bioregions Festival - April 30 - May 6, 2004 –Weldon, CA. The 2003 BioFest recorded 227 bird species at one of the West's premier spring migration regions including the Giant Sequoia National Monument, South Fork Kern River Globally Important Bird Area, Butterbredt Spring Nationally Important Bird Area, and Sequoia National Forest Globally Important Bird Area.
