The keynote speaker for the Saturday night Banquet will Michael Denega.  He’ll present his photographs and wildlife studies of the controversial and environmentally-sensitive Arctic National Wildlife Refuge:

Learn about arctic birds of the Yukon Flats and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge from a dynamic traveling birder and photographer who just happens to make his living as a researcher and teacher of biological sciences! Workshop Leader: Michael Denega will share his knowledge through an exciting PowerPoint presentation of the Pacific Flyway's arctic birds, which he has studied as a college instructor, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service volunteer and biological researcher. His travels and studies have taken him from the northern-most regions of the flyway in Alaska, to the southern-most habitats of South America.

San Diego Bird Festival - February 4-8, 2004. The eighth annual San Diego Bird Festival spotlights the natural diversity of the region with birding trips to the Anza-Borrego Desert, Cuyamaca Mountains, San Elijo Lagoon home of the California Gnatcatcher, San Diego Bay, Coronado Islands and San Felipe in Baja California.  More than 480 species of birds have been seen in San Diego County, a bird haven along the Pacific Flyway and home to many exciting winter birds.

The Festival highlights include:  Friday night mixer with Adrian Binns and his amusing talk on Origin of Bird Names and Saturday night dinner with Kenn Kaufman. Field trips including a two night trip to San Felipe,  pelagic trips, kayaking along San Diego Bay, a variety of classes pertaining to birds, bees, butterflies and the technology of digiscoping.  For younger birders there will be the ever-popular Salt Marsh School House and a Sunday morning bird and bike trip along the bay.

The Central Valley Bird Club will be hosting the Seventh Annual Central Valley Birding Symposium Nov. 20-23, 2003 at the Radisson Hotel in Stockton, CA. There will be field trips, workshops, a Birding Nature Fair and Art Show with over 25 vendors selling nature related items, etc.

Jon Dunn will be giving a Sparrow ID workshop, Steve Howell a Hummingbird ID Workshop, and Kimball Garrett will tell us "Why Birders Should Care About Subspecies".

The Keynote Speakers are: Ed Harper- A Passion for Birds", Keith Hansen- "The Farallons", and John Hendrickson- "California Raptors".
