You’ll all be glad to know that we’ve finally contracted to build a new bird blind, dedicated to Tom Rodgers, at the Oxidation Ponds. Those of you who have been around a while will recall that several years ago we had receive over $800 in donations for a memorial for Tom Rodgers; I’m sure some of you have been wondering when we’d actually finish that project! While a good amount of the delay has been our fault, a large share of the delay is also due to the fact that the Oxidation Ponds is requiring that the blind be extremely sturdy, and also be movable so that they can perform routine maintenance around it. Building a 16’ bird blind that can be moved around and is expected to last 20 years is not a trivial task.

We expect to begin construction on the blind within the next few weeks, so that we’ll all be able to look at the winter ducks from it. More information should be forthcoming within the next month or two.
