Christmas Bird Count Highlights & Lowlights

The Chico Christmas Count had the Lowest Participation in quite a few years. The result was the fewest species in quite a few years. 105 was the total number. The bird of the count was undoubtedly the Black and White Warbler. Other good birds were Hooded Merganser, Hairy Woodpecker, Phainopepela and Green Heron.

Oroville had a lot of participants and that resulted in 125 species. Highlights were Rufous-crowned Sparrow, Glaucous-winged Gull, Thayer's Gull and Mew Gull, Barrow's Goldeneye and 128 White-throated Swifts.
