Chapter Funding Issues

In the October newsletter, we mentioned that our funding from National Audubon has been significantly reduced. We've recently entered into an agreement with the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge to handle some of the legal requirements & accounting for their retail operation; we will receive some of the profits from the operations as a result. This may help us to make up some of the budgetary shortfall resulting from National's new policies.

We have also considered the possibility of delivering the newsletter via email to willing recipients; this would save us both the printing cost and the mailing cost of the newsletter (as well as saving the paper, fuel, and other resources associated with a "snail mail" newsletter). However, due to the manual labor involved in manually "culling" the mailing list, it would not be worthwhile for us to do this if only a few members are willing. We'd probably need at least 50-100 members who would prefer (or at least be willing) to get the newsletter via email in order to make it worthwhile for our volunteers.
