| Hello all and happy holidays! Any moment now, 6 different teachers at 4 area schools will be receiving an Audubon Adventures Kit due to your generous donations earlier this year. For those new members who may not be clued in, Audubon Adventures is an environmental education tool kit that is designed to be used in elementary school classrooms (3rd to 6th grades). Last winter we raised enough money to sponsor, or purchase, a kit for those teachers who were interested. | ![]() |
Here are the thankful teachers whose classrooms you have helped enhance: Anna Stevens from Pines Elementary School in Magalia, Beth Parmentier, Kathy Claudio, and Adrian Huseman all of Wyandotte Ave. Elementary School in Oroville, Jim Knaver from Forest Ranch Elementary, and Rita Dane from Cohasset Elementary. Also, I would like to add that both of the recipients of Audubon Adventures ealier this year are really enjoying this resource and are finding it really useful. One class is visiting the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge in early December and their Monterey Bay Aquarium in the Spring. Audubon Adventures is helping to enhance this teacher's curriculum and help connect children to the natural world that many people take for granted these days.
On a final note I would like to say that I just learned that I am moving to Placerville in mid January. I appreciate Altacal and its supporting members giving me a chance to contribute to a worthy cause, helping to educate the public about the world we live in. There will be no official "Education Appeal" this winter but I urge you to continue to support Altacal's Education Fund seeing as how I would like to continue to help out for a little while longer even though I will be 90 miles away. Thank you, Davin Bowker.
