On January 15 and 16, Altacal joined by the following organizations: Bidwell Wildlife Rehabilitation; Butte Environmental Council; California Dept. Fish and Game; California Waterfowl Association; California Wildlife Foundation; Chico Chamber of Commerce; Chico Creek Nature Center; Ducks Unlimited; Larrabee Farms; Mendocino National Forest; Sacramento River Preservation Trust; US Bureau of Reclamation; and U.S.Fish and Wildlife Service held the first annual Snow Goose Festival. The two day event consisted of three elements: Guided tours of local wetlands preserves and refuges; a series of workshops; and a banquet featuring John Hendrickson the nationally recognized photographer, who presented "A Gathering of Wings". The festival was a great success and plans are underway to hold the event again in January 2001.
