Lake Oroville Bald Eagle Surveyors Needed!

At least two pairs of bald eagles have been regularly seen nesting at or near Lake Oroville. This year volunteers are needed to document the locations and nesting success of these pairs and survey Lake Oroville State Recreation Area for others. This information would be used to avoid potential conflicts between bald eagles and public recreation on Lake Oroville. Also, this survey would help to track the statewide population of bald eagles during and after their removal from the federal threatened species list.

Surveys need to occur on Lake Oroville at least twice per month from March through August. A personal boat would be helpful, although a boat could be supplied to experienced operators. Successful applicants would sign up as State Park Volunteers.
