Upcoming Field Trips

Sunday, February 7 - Black Butte Lake. Bald Eagle, Mountain Bluebird and Lewis's Woodpecker are just a few of the great birds you can expect to see on this great trip. Meet at Burger King in Orland, Highway 32 and I-5 at 9 A.M. Bring lunch and beverages. Dress warm! Rain cancels. If you have any questions Call Anne-lise Feenstra at 865-5254.

Saturday, February 13 - Colusa Wildlife Area. Waterfowl, Raptors and early shorebirds will be our avian friends for the day. There has also been a recent report of a Swamp Sparrow at this refuge, so you never know what may turn up! Meet at the Chico Park and Ride at 7 A.M. Bring lunch and liquids. Dress warm. Rain will not cancel this trip. Any questions call Richard Redmond 893-5382.

March 5-7 - Honey Lake and Janesville. You can either meet us at the Chico Park and Ride at 4 P.M. on Friday afternoon, or Saturday Morning at 7 AM at the Fleming unit of the Honey Lake Wildlife Refuge. There are accommodations in Susanville, or you can camp at the Fleming unit. Definitely be prepared for cold weather and great birds. The last two years we have had Tree sparrow, Northern Shrike and (of course!) Sage Grouse on Sunday. We head out to the lek around 5 AM and have been successful every year in finding the birds.
