[Image]  WE'RE BACK--BRING YOUR NATURE SLIDES!! Welcome back; can you believe summer is already gone?! We begin our new season with the ever-popular member's slide show. This is a great opportunity to renew old acquaintances or make new ones. Come and see what people in our group have been doing and seeing. We will provide the projector, screen, refreshments, and compliments. If you have some good photos/prints of desirable nature items you can easily have them turned into slides (it cost between 1-2 dollars at one of the local film developing stores). Most of all we want to see you; and invite a friend.
As usual, there is a seemingly unlimited number of opportunities available for those who want to be involved. We want and need your help. Let one of us know if you would like to be involved. The Board of Directors meets once a month right here at the Nature Center.

Good news: Our request for donations of slides brought in 250 phenomenal slides; 220 were donated outright and we were given permission to duplicate 30 others. This whole collection was donated to Altacal by Steve Emmons. A HUGE HUGE thanks to Steve!!! A very active Science Club member/Birder from Corning Union High School organized all 250 slides into appropriate bird groups, following the order of the Peterson's Western Field Guide (thank you Holly Treat!). The slides have already been used for a program this summer out at Black Butte Lake; some 20-25 people were delighted to see some of the local summer birds. Thanks go out again, to Corning Union High School Science Club members Holly Treat and Dustin Alexander. They looked up and typed notes on each of the birds, set up the equipment, and helped to narrate the show.
