The Golden Gate Audubon Society is offering a trip to Africa this
Fall. The basic trip is to Kenya, departing San Francisco on September 23,
1998, escorted by well-known Bay Area birder and Golden Gate member Alan
Hopkins. Areas to be visited include The Ark, Samburu Reserve, Lake Nakuru,
Lake Elementeita, and the Maasai/Mara, returning from Nairobi to San Francisco
(via Amsterdam) on October 6. There is an optional pre-trip extension to
Tanzania (Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara) leaving
San Francisco on September 16 and meeting up with the main group in Nairobi
on the 25th. There also is an optional post-trip extension to western Kenya
(Kakamega Forest and Lake Baringo), returning to San Francisco on October
