Trip Reports

March 6-8, 1998 Honey Lake - Five Altacalers made the pilgrimage to the frozen north (well, not really frozen, but cold and occasionally snowy!) for our annual Sage Grouse trip. We also met up with a couple of birders from Florida who were also after the Grouse. Nine male Sage Grouse were seen; there were no females this year, which seems a bit odd (blame it on El Nino!). Other birds of note include Yellow Billed Magpie (possibly a county record!), Northern Shrike, Sage Sparrow, American Tree Sparrow, and Eurasian Wigeon. A total of 94 species were seen.- Skip Augur
