Wildlife of the American West
October 16 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
The unique variety of wildlife and birds makes photography from the northern Rocky Mountains, south to desert Southwest, and west to the California Coast – a wildlife photographer’s dream. I’ve spent 33 years shooting in the American West, both as a nature/wildlife photographer and as a photo safari guide. This show will highlight some of the species and tactics I’ve used, as well as amazing locations where I’ve found them. While I do cover many tactics in depth, it’s learning about my subjects that has led to my photography success over my 33 years in the field shooting.
Brent Paull began his odyssey as a wildlife photographer in 1985 with his first published article and photos. During the next 30+ years he’s accomplished a great many of his initial goals – 31 published articles, 1000+ publication credits, 1000+ fine art and stock sales.
He’s had great experiences shooting commercially for nearly a hundred businesses, Indian tribes, and government agencies like the National Park Service, National Forest Service, and the Bureau of Land Management. His images have appeared in over 40 magazines and newspapers, including 11 magazine covers, won photo contests – including the 2013 California Wildlife Photo of the Year. For a decade he had his own portrait studio, shooting nearly 800 weddings and thousands of family and senior portraits. Today he leads about 70 photo safaris per year, covering about 120 days – all in the American West, most in California. “It has been a great ride that I hope will last for decades to come.”
