Birds & Trees of Butte Creek Ecological Preserve
November 18 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
We will explore the native trees, shrubs, and birds of Butte Creek. Butte Creek Canyon is stunning with its Tuscan Volcanic Formations. This is a 3-4 mile intermediate hike along the creek (and over some logs) down to the pond. On past trips we have enjoyed Red-breasted Sapsucker, Wood Ducks, goldeneye, Great Horned Owl, Bald Eagle, and assorted warblers. Otters and beavers may also be seen. Wear sturdy shoes/boots and bring water, and snacks. From Hwy 99 south of Chico take the Skyway exit and go east towards Paradise. Continue to Honey Run Road and turn left onto Honey Run Road. Continue east 3.1 miles to a group of houses and a 30 mph curve. The Preserve parking lot and (small) sign are at the end of the curve on the right.
